The most popular balance system is now available at HECTORPT SPORTS.
A simple, efficient balance screening and training tool. Ideal for pre-season baseline, injury pre-disposition, fall prevention screening or return to activity.

APPLICATIONS
- Sports (Injury prevention, pre-post season testing/training, pre-post surgical rehabilitation).
- Orthopedics (i.e. knee/hip replacements, ACL, back surgery and others).
- Pediatrics (improves proprioception, eye-foot coordination deficiencies among others).
- Neurologically impaired (i.e. neuropathy, Parkisons, CVA and others).
- Older adults (i.e. history of falls, instability walking, poor endurance).
- Wellness programs (maintain competitive levels during the year).
TESTING MODE
Balance Testing: Features
- Pre-season baseline
- Determine ankle and knee status
- Post injury return to activity
The Biodex Balance System SD Provides Four Standardized Testing Protocols
Fall Risk: Compares balance test results to age and gender-dependent normative data consistent with American Geriatrics Guidelines for Fall Risk Assessment.
Athlete Single Leg: This is the same test used by leading sports medicine programs including Cincinnati Sports Medicine, Cincinnati Children's Hospital and University of Pittsburgh and others.
Postural Stability: gives the clinician the ability to perform a bilateral comparison of an affected leg against the unaffected side to establish a baseline for balance progressions.
Limits of Stability Test: Test the patients limits of stability statically and or dynamically to establish baseline data for test or re-test purposes.
CTSIB assessment Patient's results for each sensory test condition are compared to an asymptomatic active population. This expands balance assessment capabilities to patients with possible underlying vestibular, visual or somatosensory conditions.
Test results are compared to age and gender-dependent normative data.
TRAINING MODE
Balance Training: Features
- Proprioception and stabilization exercise
- Range of motion exercise
- Weight shift training
- Core stability
NEW! FIVE INTERACTIVE TRAINING MODES
Featuring both Static and Dynamic capabilities.
Postural stability training
Emphasise specific movement patterns or strategies by placing markers anywhere on the screen. Score reflects how many times a target is hit.
Weight shift training.
Patients are challenged to shift and control their center of gravity within two parallel lines. Changing the width of the lines controls the degree of difficulty. Score is kept to track progress.
Maze Control training
This defined movement pattern encourages proprioception and motor control. Add or subtract sections to vary the challenge.
Random control training
An undefined movement pattern where the patient is challenged to keep pace with moving target. Target size and movement speed can be varied to match skill level. Ideal for motor control and vestibular training.
KEY POINTS:
The Biodex Balance System SD has been designed to meet the needs of everyone looking to improve balance, increase agility, develop muscle tone and treat a wide variety of pathologies. It is also an excellent tool in the growing field of Fall Prevention.
Using this unique device, our therapists can assess neuromuscular control by quantifying the ability to maintain dynamic bilateral and unilateral postural stability on a static or unstable surface. Use any of four test protocols including fall risk, athletic single leg stability, limits of stability and postural stability.
The Balance System SD also serves as a valuable training device to enhance kinesthetic abilities that may provide some degree of compensation for impaired proprioceptive reflex mechanisms following injury.
